Ecosystems Transfer & Recycling was founded by Buck and Janet Pelroy of Veneta, Oregon, in January 2000. They were living in a rural community, and just weren’t happy with the options they had to dispose of their garbage, let alone recycling. So, with access to these services in mind, and keeping the country clean, Ecosystems was born.

With support from their neighbors, the Pelroys purchased their first garbage truck and went door to door to offer garbage and recycling services, helping keep rural Lane County free of debris. They successfully acquired 500 customers in their first year of business with one part-time employee.
As their business continued to grow, so did their involvement in the community. From volunteering for Food For Lane County and serving meals on Sundays, to supporting youth sports in the area. With children of their own in the Fern Ridge School District, their belief has always been that what you put into the community is what you get back.
Now, in 2024, with that same mission in mind, Ecosystems proudly serves over 3,500 residential and commercial customers in the greater rural Lane County area, from single household accounts to some of the greatest wineries in the Willamette Valley.
We now employ 12 full-time employees, and have expanded our administrative staff, as well as the areas that we service. Including, but not limited to Lorane, Elmira, Triangle Lake, Cheshire, and up to the Eugene city limits. The business is now operated by the next generation of Pelroys and continues to grow with the help of their kind and hardworking staff.
As Janet and Buck explore retirement, and their son Steve, and his wife Katy are running the day to day operations, the values the business was founded on remain the same.
